Here's a recent success story. A long time patient of ours wanted to solve the problem of his progressively deteriorating teeth. He kept getting cavities, and the teeth were chipping and breaking little by little.
So we mutually agreed that tooth replacement was needed, but doing it in a cost-sensitive manner was important. We also were able to salvage a few teeth, so we used them as important anchors for his tooth replacement with an implant- and tooth-supported overdenture.
We placed four mini implants after the hopeless teeth were removed.
We designed a low-profile overdenture to anchor to the implants.
Most patients who wear dentures complain of a large bulk of material that fills their mouth, making it difficult to speak, chew, and taste their foods. When we use mini implants, they allow an overdenture to become less bulky. It results in more teeth with more natural function, fit, and speech.
Our patient hadn't been in the habit of smiling before the project started. But he beamed at us as soon as we handed him the overdenture to keep!
We have been in the business of tooth replacement and implant dentistry for over 10 years. Call us to find out how we can help you smile again with implants.
Dental implants are artificial tooth replacements that were first developed half a century ago by a Swedish scientist named Per-Ingvar Branemark. Implants arose from the patient's need to secure loose-fitting dentures. Since the advent of the implant, engineering and enhancements to the implant have enabled dentists to expand the implant's usefulness, including the replacement of missing or lost teeth. Today, implant techniques provide a wide range of tooth replacement solutions including:
